The Start When Father Murray reached out for help he was lucky enough to contact the South Dakota Retail Liquor Dealers Association. This group of small business owners was so impressed with the priest and his vision, that they brought him to their national convention in Las Vegas. There, leading alcohol beverage manufacturing, importing, distributing and retailing organizations became excited about helping Sky Ranch get started. They formed the Sky Ranch Foundation in 1961. Sky Ranch Foundation is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt charitable organization.
The Growth Over the years, the Foundation has purchased the land and built the buildings used by Sky Ranch for Boys. Each year, the Foundation contributes about 25% of the operating budget of Sky Ranch. These funds come largely from people and companies associated with the beer, wine and spirits industries, although contributions are welcome from all!
